I'm really getting into this stuff. I love driving, and I love that I'm getting better with each event I do, but I know that I am still learning pretty much everything. I don't go to the track with enough consistency to really feel like I have the years of experience that I do have, which is why experience is measured in track days / miles rather than time involved in the sport. As of this writing in January '08, since the fall of '05 I've done:

1 ice race
5 rallycrosses with SCCA
4 days hillclimbing with KSCC ( 2 events )
5 days at NHIS with COM ( 3 events )

I'm also among a circle of friends in which there are some ridiculously talented and experienced drivers, so I don't feel like I'll ever really catch up with them. But I still have tons of fun and do what I can to be competitive.

A lot of drivers are also their own mechanics. I'm not one of those drivers. I'm learning a lot about how everything comes together, and I have a pretty sound mechanical mind, but I don't have the experience to really be able to troubleshoot or fix a lot of things. I'm learning though, and hopefully some day I'll have the knowledge and skill that I respect and appreciate in so many of my peers.
